What is ‘Experiential Education’? Experiential Education is a teaching philosophy which engages learners with direct experiences. It focuses on moral values, increasing knowledge and awareness, developing life skills, and understanding their contribute.

  • Group Event Inquiries

    This registration is only for an individual or organization that is interested in holding an event with the Community Education Experiential Education program. Only those that are interested in setting up a private event on a date or a time that falls outside of the regular open hours of the boathouse or rock gym should complete this registration. Upon registration you will be asked questions to help us determine what your group's needs are. You will be contacted by a member of our staff to discuss your programming needs, cost and if we are able to accommodate you. THIS REGISTRATION IS FOR INFORMATION GATHERING ONLY! YOUR REGISTRATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE DATES, TIMES, COST OR ACCOMODATION OF YOUR GROUP. THERE WILL BE NO GROUPS SCHEDULED IN MAY.
  • Rock Gym

    Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays 6:00pm-9:00pm PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! The rock gym is open to all ages and experience levels. All children must be accompanied by an adult. IF YOU CANNOT REGISTER WE ARE EITHER FULL or NOT OPEN, DUE TO WEATHER, LOW ENROLLMENTS OR UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES. There will be NO CASH or CHECKS taken. You must pay online with a credit card. Cost is $5 per climber or free if your place of employment is a member of our Wellness Program. Parents/Guardians must complete registration for minors (18 years and younger). The rock gym is FREE to Albert Lea School district K-12 students and is made possible through a federal grant. Preregistration still required. Please select the course that says the date and "AL STUDENT ONLY" Student status will be confirmed upon check in at the rock gym. The Rock Gym is located at Brookside Education Center, Gym B, 211 W Richway Drive, Albert Lea, MN 56007. If you have any questions please contact our office at 507-379-5317.
